This Refund Policy is part of our Terms and Conditions. It explains when a payment for the ATJ Research membership is refunded. It does not limit the rights the law gives you when a service is defective (see section 6).
1. The short version
- You can get a full refund of your first payment if you ask within 48 hours of your first purchase and have not used the membership.
- This is available once per member.
- If the membership has been used in any way, there is no refund.
- Renewals and later purchases are not refundable. You can cancel at any time to stop future charges.
2. Why the statutory 14-day withdrawal does not apply
The membership is digital content and digital services delivered immediately after payment. Before paying, you expressly ask us to begin at once and acknowledge that you thereby lose the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal (section 6 of the Terms). The refund described here is a voluntary guarantee we offer in its place.
3. What counts as "used"
The membership counts as used as soon as any one of the following has happened after your purchase:
- a course lesson was opened;
- a file was downloaded;
- one of the web applications was opened;
- a desktop licence key was issued, or a desktop application was activated with your account;
- access to our private GitHub repositories was granted to your GitHub account;
- a Discord account was connected to your membership.
We keep a log of these events for every account. Browsing the dashboard, your account page or the Subscriptions page, and connecting services before you purchase, do not count as use.
4. How to ask for a refund
- Sign in, open the Subscriptions page and choose Request a refund. The option is shown while you are eligible. If you are not eligible, the page tells you why.
- When you confirm, the refund is issued at once, your subscription is cancelled immediately and your access ends, including desktop licence keys, repository access and the Discord members' role.
- The money is returned to the payment method you used, normally within 5 to 10 business days depending on your bank.
You can also ask through the support link in the receipt you received from the merchant of record (Stripe/Link), or by writing to [email protected]. Requests received that way are decided under the same rules, normally within 48 hours.
5. Cancelling is not the same as a refund
You can cancel the membership at any time on the Subscriptions page or at link.com. Cancelling stops the next charge; your access continues until the end of the period you have paid for, and that period is not refunded. If a renewal was charged shortly before you meant to cancel, write to us: we cannot promise a refund, but we look at genuine mistakes case by case.
6. Your statutory rights
If the Service is defective, meaning it does not work as described and we do not fix it within a reasonable time after you tell us, you have the rights arising from defective performance under the Czech Civil Code, which may include a reasonable price reduction or withdrawal from the contract. If we end your membership for a reason other than your breach of the Terms, we refund the unused part of the period you paid for. Duplicate charges made in error are always refunded in full.
7. Chargebacks
If something looks wrong with a charge, please contact us first: it is almost always quicker. A payment that is disputed with the bank is handled by the merchant of record, and the membership may be suspended while the dispute is open.
